A collection of artwork by professional artist members of Visual Arts Scotland (VAS).
17 October to 29 November 2026
Visual Arts Scotland (VAS) was originally founded in 1924 as the Scottish Society of Women Artists, an organisation established to provide opportunities for women artists to create and exhibit applied arts. Since 1990 VAS has championed all craftspeople, makers, designers and applied arts practitioners. Today, their membership is composed of over 1000 “Artists” and “Makers” celebrating the best in innovative contemporary visual arts. The conversation between disciplines – to encourage challenging and ambitious ideas – is at the heart of Visual Arts Scotland’s mission.
This exhibition includes ceramics, papier mâché sculpture, wooden constructions, glass, tapestry, printmaking as well as landscape, abstract, figurative and narrative painting… probably the most varied exhibition we have had here. Plenty of great work to see… and perhaps, find a unique, handcrafted piece of art for a Christmas gift… there, I said it!
It’s great to be able to exhibit the following 24 elected artist members of VAS, here in Gullane…
Aileen Keith, Ailsa Magnus MRSS, Alison Burt, Amanda Gizzi, Charles Young, Chris Brook RSW RGI, Evie Rose Thornton, Genevieve Draper, Gillian A McFarland, Jade Stout, Jane Hunter SSA, Jo Fleming Smith, Jo Gifford, Joyce Gunn Cairns MBE, Julie Barnes, Kinga Elliot, Lindsey Lavender SSA, Lorraine Robson SSA, Lynn McGregor RSW, Margaretann Bennett, Nicky Sanderson, Nicola McInally, Sandra Vick & Sarah Knox.
I hope you can make it along to the exhibition which opens on Saturday 17 October at 11am with refreshments and an opportunity to meet some of the artists from 2 until 5pm.
