Outcome is the final drawing of a triptych ‘Diagnosis, Treatment, Outcome’, with the triptych viewable together or as stand-alone pieces. It focuses on the stages of serious illness and the overall result is left ambiguous for the viewer to decide.
The drawing has unfinished areas which are open to interpretation depending on how the viewer sees the outcome such as the top left side of the patient’s skull which is either emerging or disappearing. The lower right-hand side of the face further emphasises this idea, is his life increasing or draining away in to the outline of his shoulders which have been drawn in the fashion of an ECG machine reading. The change in line weight of the shoulders being indicative of his heart rate getting stronger or weaker. Is the patient staring out resiliently or is he resigned to a less positive fate? Or does he even know the outcome yet?

Artist Statement
I am particularly drawn to the creation of atmospheric pieces that maintain a strong emphasis on drawing and structure. Exploration of light and its interplay with form serves as a foundation for my artistic practice, and allows me to create works that invite the viewer into a space of quiet contemplation. My portraits are guided by a narrative, whilst my landscapes strive to capture the inherent beauty of the natural world through careful consideration of colour, composition, and mark making.
