About the Artist

‘I love the drama of the changing light.’

I specialise in watercolour painting and especially landscapes and moorland. I am directly inspired by changing shapes and bursts of colour, scents and changing light.

I work towards my painting being alive so many of the paintings are started ‘en plein air.’ Other times I sketch with line and colour. Sometimes I don’t know how the painting will turn out as the changes in light can excite a memory and take me of down a different path.

My eyes dart across the landscape looking for the changes in light in the sky, on the horizon and the land.  I often only have seconds to identify what connects me to the world that I see and the world that has been.

Sheena gained her degree in Furniture Design at Edinburgh College of Art

On moving to Haddington, East Lothian, Scotland she painted mostly Scottish landscapes and cityscapes. She has also tutored and given talks and workshops

Sheena has shown in private and public galleries at home and abroad, often with the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour. She is an Artist Member of the Paisley Art Institute.

She has been included for three years running with a small number of other artists representing Scotland at Fabriano in Acquarello, Italy where one of her paintings is still held.
