About the Artist


Born Edinburgh. Painter in oil and watercolour of industrial landscapes and topographical scenes, occasional portraits, still life and scenes from opera: also aquatintist and lithographer. Educated in Glasgow. After being apprenticed to a lithographer studied Glasgow School of Art where he was befriended by William and Mary Armour. Following a period on the staff of GSA worked as full time painter concentrating on Glasgow scenes sometimes in the form of etchings. Keen member of Glasgow Art Club and life-long friend of Alexander Goudie. Exhibited RSA (10) between 1956-1972 & GI (122). Biography: The Dictionary of Scottish Art & Architecture - Peter J M McEwan.
