About the Artist

Linda Jackson has been making art for over 30 years, working across the fields of painting, collage, printmaking and ceramics. Her work is expressive, an emotional response drawing upon mark-making, colour, texture and form. She often combines materials, building up layers and interesting surface textures. Inspiration takes different forms, most commonly the surrounding environment, seasonal change, or music.

Linda grew up in West Yorkshire before moving to Scotland in the1990s, graduating from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art with a Fine Art Degree in Drawing and Painting. She has since undertaken extensive printmaking training at Edinburgh Printmakers, Graal Press and DCA. Her studio work has continued throughout her life, first in Edinburgh and now in Cellardyke, Fife.

Linda has over twenty years of teaching experience. Many of those years have been spent as an Artist in Residence within secondary education at Fettes College, Edinburgh and St Leonards School, St Andrews. She has worked within community settings across all age groups and currently runs printmaking classes in Fife.

Linda has exhibited work across Scotland and England. She regularly takes part in the Pittenweem Arts Festival and RSA exhibitions. She has been awarded the RSW Hospitalfield House residency and has had several solo shows in Edinburgh and London.
