About the Artist

Kate Bogie

An East Lothian based artist, I have returned to my love of painting, following a career as an art director in magazines and other forms of print media.

Since childhood I have held an abiding fascination with the human form, and over the last few years have mostly been focusing on portraiture, working in oils on board. Until now my work has largely been commission-led, and I have been fortunate enough to be selected to exhibit in the Scottish National Portrait Awards.

Searching for a creative identity beyond portraiture, I am currently investigating relationships between the figure and the landscape.

Inspired by such contemporary artists as Carlos San Milan, Alex Kanevsky and Iryna Yermolova, I am seeking to explore and interpret the push and pull of cold and warm light, clear and blurred edges, abstraction and realism, the known and unknown.
