Artist’s Statement

For the last three or four years I have been working on a series of figures in response to issues relating to male psychology (particularly young males) in recent years.

Many struggle with issues such as feelings of isolation and anxiety, as well as lack of employment opportunities. Record rates of poor mental health amongst this group have been well documented.

In the paintings I allude to these things in a visual way, but at the same time try to include a sense of optimism through formal aspects such as the use of colour.
