About the Artist

Biography

Visual Artist with a collaborative practice. Art therapist

Interests : Noticing Time, Place, Process, Materials

Graduate of St Martins, London

My practice is focussed on narratives that move me. I make creative interventions that are process led and that move towards understandings.

I have been involved in a range of inter-disciplinary research projects collaborating with art therapists, artists, astronomers, geneticists, and social scientists.  I am artist co lead on ArtMovesFife, a dynamic large scale collective artwork that is unfolding across the creative landscape of Fife and Creativity and Curiosity an interdisciplinary art science project that engages in conversations and collaborations with astronomers and astrophysicists.

I work with a diversity of materials and processes from my studio in rural Fife and am a professional member of Visual Arts Scotland and Society of Scottish Artists.

Artist Statement

I am fortunate to live in a landscape that shows me wonder. It reminds me of the preciousness of our planet, provoking thoughts on our moral obligations to each other and the natural world.Looking and noticing engages me in processes of mapping understandings through place and across time.

Artists are well placed to hold slippery, contradictory and complex things in reflective working processes, observing and developing connections. This is the manner in which I approach my work.  The archaeology of marks and objects invite investigation, to draw closer, connecting in understanding.

They speak to me of the individual, of the fragility of occurrences and the adjustments that can be made in understandings.
