About the Artist

Artist's Statement

Victoria is a three times graduate of Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art.

Her work focuses primarily on the human figure, with the understanding that it is the most expressive vehicle in which to represent the human condition.

Victoria is interested in creating artworks that also serve to embody her deeper interests of anatomy, Eastern philosophy, and movement practices and has continually tried to capture the essence of each within her multi-disciplinary practice.

Choosing to focus mainly on figure drawing and painting at the moment, Victoria has been creating pieces using oil paint with cold wax, which allows her to build up many layers of semi-transparent paint and scrape back sections to reveal the underlying colour, drawing marks, or sometimes even the bare canvas.
