About the Artist


Watercolour painter; mainly landscapes, particularly the western Highlands, the Lothians and in Perthshire, often on a large scale. Niece of the Earl of Minto, her maiden name was Elliot. The centre of a minor scandal when marrying the artist, Hugh Munro, who at the time was employed cutting wood blocks for Charles Mackie. A year after Munro’s death in 1928, she married William Stewart MacGeorge and it was at this time that she began to paint watercolours professionally. Trained by J Campbell Noble. Lived for many years in Haddington. Elected RSW 1930. Exhibited RSA (41), RSW (44) & GI (4). Represented in Glasgow Art Gallery.
