About the Artist

David Nealon RSW - Artist Statement

Though I have for many years developed my work through the study of landscape, I have recently gone back to figurative painting. Studying at Edinburgh college of art many years ago the human figure was very central to the practice and discipline of the college's educational process, not something I always agreed with, but it has left its mark and influence on me leaving a legacy that I'm able to draw upon.

Composition, mark-making, creating a narrative and the use of colour are more important to me than realism and with this in mind l try to develop a visual language that I can use to convey ideas, situations and be curious about the world we live in.
