About the Artist

Charlene Scott is a Scottish artist living and working in East Lothian who graduated in Intermedia from the Edinburgh College of Art in 2023.

Working primarily with the extraction, material and research of botanical pigments, Scott creates non-representational works on paper that are characterised by simplicity, quietude and repetition. Through botanical colour, nuance and the exploration of mark making, her work is embedded with time and persistence and is a subtle reflection on the interwoven connectivity of nature, the built environment and the human psyche.

Following her recent graduation from The Edinburgh College of Art in 2023, Scott has been awarded the RSA John Kinross Travel Scholarship to Florence, the Glenfiddich Artist in Residence Award and shortlisted for The Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize 2024.
