About the Artist
Sarah Knox is an established painter and printmaker based at Beaverhall Studios in Edinburgh. Since graduating Sarah has continued painting, printing and artist book-making. She is an artist and art teacher and teaches part-time at St George’s School for Girls. Sarah’s art is inspired by the Scottish landscape and her work explores the poetry of dissolving form, atmosphere, light and distance. Simple oppositions of colour and light suggest something beyond the horizon.
This work explores shorelines and she has developed work from her films and sketches made on recent trips to the Inner Hebrides, Crete and the East Lothian coastline.
Sarah’s work is exhibited at Marchmont Gallery, Gallery 10 and Edinburgh Printmakers’ Workshop. Recent exhibitions of Sarah’s work include: The Great Print Show at Rheged Centre Cumbria 2015, Art in Healthcare exhibitions at Gayfield Creative Spaces 2016 and Arusha Gallery 2017. Sarah’s paintings also sold in aid Maggie’s Centre and Diabetes UK in 2016. Sarah was delighted by the success of her exhibition ‘Light in the Garden’ at Dawyck Botanical Gardens Aug - Nov 2016 and is thrilled to be showing her first artist’s film in a mixed contemporary art show at WASPS Patriothall Gallery in June 2017. Sarah exhibits widely and her work is represented in many private and public collections.
