About the Artist

I make landscape paintings with a strong focus on composition, colour and materiality. I am interested in using innovative materials and processes and in simplifying and abstracting compositions using distinctive proportion and colour relationships.

Currently I make painting surfaces from pigmented Jesmonite (a sculptural casting plaster used in architectural restoration) which is inlaid using stencils in thin layers on panels. I then sand and inscribe the plaster and articulate small areas of detail using thin glazes of pigment in acrylic medium or oil paint. The unique techniques and materials used influence the aesthetic of the finished paintings.
