Title: The Forgotten
Size: 44cm x 33.5cm (Framed 88cm x 56cm)
Medium: Graphite on Hand Toned Paper

Additional Information

The Forgotten was drawn in reaction to the lockdowns and how the care of some of the non-Covid related vulnerable was neglected. This is represented by the unknown man slowly fading in to the background. A significant portion of time was spent on attempting to achieve the right balance of the softness of the disappearing shoulders being able to believably hold up the weight of the head.

About the Artist

Stephanie Mills

Stephanie Mills is a British landscape and portrait artist whose work is held in international collections, with collectors including public figures and leading institutions.

Artist Statement

I am particularly drawn to the creation of atmospheric pieces that maintain a strong emphasis on drawing and structure. Exploration of light and its interplay with form serves as a foundation for my artistic practice, and allows me to create works that invite the viewer into a space of quiet contemplation. My portraits are guided by a narrative, whilst my landscapes strive to capture the inherent beauty of the natural world through careful consideration of colour, composition, and mark making.
